Heidelberg Park, a green space that consists of 3.84 acres was formed in 1970 when it was purchased from Herman Ziegler in an effort to give residents a recreational place to enjoy. As new housing surfaced, Heidelberg's population grew which led to the formation of the Heidelberg Parks and Recreation Association, now simply known as the Heidelberg Recreation Association. It was created when residents recognized that the town was in need of a group that would work together to strengthen neighbourhood ties and build community. This group of volunteers continues to serve the community through the organization of events and activities such as a town wide garage sale, family fun days and park clean up days. The association also takes on the task of managing the green space and the new Heidelberg Community Centre which was built in 2017 after the original building was condemned due to structural damage.
The Heidelberg Recreation Association is always looking for new members to join so if you are interested, please email us at email@example.com.
